how we handle your data
Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 14, 2026
1. What we collect#
- Account data — if you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored hashed, never in plain text).
- Contact-form data — if you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, message, and the optional subject/category you choose, along with your IP address and browser user agent at the time of submission.
- Session logs — like most web servers, we log IP address and user agent for active sessions to keep you signed in and to protect the site against abuse.
2. Cookies#
We use a session cookie to keep you signed in and a related cookie to protect forms from cross-site request forgery. These are functional cookies required for the site to work; we do not currently use advertising cookies.
3. Analytics#
No third-party analytics or tracking scripts run on this site. If that changes, this section will be updated to name the tool and what it collects.
4. Contact form data#
Messages sent through Contact Us are stored so we can read and reply to them. We use this information only to respond to you and to monitor for abuse (spam, harassment); we do not sell it.
5. Payments#
Paid features are billed through Stripe, a third-party payment processor. Stripe processes and stores your payment details under its own privacy policy opens in new tab; we receive billing status and identifiers, not your full card number.
6. Retention#
We keep account data for as long as your account exists. Contact-form submissions are retained for 24 months. Server logs are retained for 90 days.
7. Third parties#
- We share data with Stripe (payments) as described above.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- The AI models this site queries to build its rankings are given fixed product-related questions, not your personal information.
8. AIR browser extension#
The AIR browser extension collects only the hostname (domain name) of the webpage you are viewing, and only at the moment you open the extension popup (or, if you have opted into the optional auto-badge feature, when you switch tabs or navigate). The extension never collects the page's full URL, query parameters, page title, page content, or any personally identifying information.
- How it's used: the hostname is sent to the AIR API (airanks.net) to look up and return that domain's AI-visibility ranking data, which is displayed in the extension popup.
- Who it's shared with: airanks.net only. We do not sell, rent, or share this data with third parties, ad networks, or data brokers, and we do not use it for personalized advertising or creditworthiness purposes.
- Retention: hostnames appear in standard API request logs and are retained only as long as needed for service operation, abuse prevention, and rate limiting, after which they are purged on our normal log-rotation schedule. The extension itself caches only the most recent lookup result locally in your browser (chrome.storage) and replaces it on the next lookup.
9. Your rights#
You can review and update your account details, or delete your account entirely, from account settings. You can also ask us to access, correct, or delete your data by using Contact Us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as GDPR or CCPA; use Contact Us to ask what applies to you.
10. Children#
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
11. Changes to this policy#
We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the site after a change is posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. See also our Terms of Service.
12. Contact#
Privacy questions and data requests can go through Contact Us. No Data Protection Officer or EU/UK representative has been appointed; inquiries route through Contact Us as well.
